Nathan Ross is an award-winning film and television producer and the founder of Lilyrose Productions.
His television credits include executive producing two seasons of HBO’s Big Little Lies — whose first season won eight Emmy Awards — and Sharp Objects. His film credits include executive producing Dallas Buyers Club, winner of three Academy Awards, as well as Wild and Demolition.
More recent credits include the Apple limited series Lady in the Lake, starring Natalie Portman, and the HBO Documentary Films feature Critical Incident: Death at the Border, which in May 2026 won the Emmy for Outstanding Investigative Documentary.
In 2018, Ross formed the finance and production company Crazyrose with his late filmmaking partner, director Jean-Marc Vallée, specializing in film, television and documentaries; it closed in 2023. Ross has held a long-time first-look television deal with HBO / HBO Max, and previously with Fifth Season. Through Lilyrose Productions he has a range of projects in development, including an upcoming third season of Big Little Lies for HBO; a film adaptation of the memoir Gorilla and the Bird; and Bullfrog, a Tokyo-set thriller.
Prior to producing, Mr. Ross was a motion-picture literary agent at ICM, primarily representing directors and screenwriters, and was profiled by The Hollywood Reporter in its November 2008 “Next Gen: 35 Under 35” issue. A graduate of Indiana University — where he double-majored in Criminal Justice and Sociology with a minor in Political Science — he also earned his law degree from the University of Illinois Chicago School of Law and was admitted to the Illinois bar in 1999.
He serves on the board of the Palm Springs International Film Festival, coaches football and baseball at Palm Desert High School, and volunteers with the Young Storytellers Foundation in Los Angeles.
